Description as published by the developer on Steam.
Age of Empires II Definitive Edition Lords of the West is the first expansion for the real-time strategy game Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. The DLC is the result of a collaboration between Forgotten Empires, Wicked Witch, and Tantalus Media, and it was released in 2021. It is a non-standalone expansion, and the base version of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is required to play it.StoryThe Lords of the West expansion includes three new campaigns set in Western Europe:In the first campaign, we follow the fate of the charismatic Edward Longshanks, who conquers Wales and Scotland in an act of revenge. In the second campaign, we learn about the new civilization: the Burgundians, whose main goal is to establish their own duchy in the lands of France. Finally, in the third campaign, we take on the role of Robert de Hauteville, leading the Sicilians in a campaign in the territories of Italy.GameplayAlthough, there are no changes to the game mechanics in Age of Empires II Definitive Edition Lords of the West, two new civilizations are introduced, and new civilizations bring new units, architecture, and technologies. With the Sicilians, a new infantry unit called "Serjeant" is introduced, along with "Donjons," which serve as an ideal additional defensive line.On the other hand, the Burgundians bring many economic improvements and a unique cavalry unit called "Coustilliers."Key FeaturesThree new campaignsTwo entirely new civilizations - the Burgundians and the SiciliansNew
